  • 漢字 Breakdown #1

Kanji, for the uninitiated, are the Chinese characters in the Japanese language. Literal meaning is 漢 literally meaning China, and 字 meaning character, there are thousands of these characters in Japanese, which both native and non-native speakers alike take a lifetime to master.

In this series, I wish to breakdown Kanji from different documents, mostly related to Karate and obscure places, as I have the most experience with these documents, and feel they go mostly misunderstood.

  • Introduction

    My name is Jon.

I like to think of myself as an eclectic individual with different passions and career goals.

I have been doing martial arts for over twenty-five years. I have been in Japan for the better part of two decades. I have been learning software development and building applications that are live today for the last five years.

Here I will be displaying all three of these areas, both to help document my progress in each area and to create a larger body of work.
